5 Tips For Thick Healthy Hair Growth!

Here at Hiydro Hair we believe healthy hair is the best hair, so we've narrowed down our 5 top tips to grow thick, healthy hair! Some of these tips may seem ridiculously simplistic however sometimes in life we forget the simple things. At Hiydro Hair we make natural hair simple :)

1) Trim Your Ends

One of the easiest ways to allow your hair to grow thick and healthy is cutting off those dead/split ends. We would recommend getting a trained professional to do this for you every 8-12 weeks. This is to help preserve and maintain your shape and ends. If you do choose to trim your ends at home, ensure you are using a set of sharp professional hair scissors. Anything else can cause further damage.

2) Have A Balanced Diet

This tip may seem simple but eating a well balanced diet will aid healthy hair growth. Foods rich in protein, biotin and vitamins are essential.

Biotin is essential for the production of a hair protein called keratin, which is why biotin supplements are often marketed for hair growth. Research has also shown that consuming more biotin can help improve hair growth in people with a biotin deficiency. However, biotin deficiencies are uncommon if you consume a balanced diet. There is little evidence to show healthy people benefit from consuming more biotin.

Additionally, eating adequate protein is important for hair growth because hair follicles are made of mostly protein. A lack of protein in the diet has been shown to promote hair loss.

Other foods such as Berries, Spinach, Salmon, Avocado and Nuts are all packed with healthy vitamins, protein and healthy fats that all aid healthy hair growth.

3) Keep hydrated

Drink approximately 1.5-2 litres of water a day depending on your activity level and climate. Your scalp, just like your skin, can become dehydrated, making for a poor growing environment.

4) Reduce Stress

Stress can be a major contributing factor as to why your hair may not be growing. The body's immune system attacks the hair follicles — causing hair loss.

Significant stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Within a few months, affected hairs might fall out suddenly when simply combing or washing your hair.

To counteract stress and protect your hair follow the tips below:
  • Seek professional help from a therapist
  • Learn and practice relaxation techniques
  • Get regular exercise
  • Spend time with positive people

5) Reduce Excessive Heat

Heat from curling irons, hair dryers, and straighteners can damage your hair and cause breakage. While avoiding heat styling altogether may not be an option, you may want to try limiting how often you use these tools. Decreasing the temperature of heated styling tools can also help reduce hair damage. Using a heat protectant product before using a heated styling tool may significantly reduce hair breakage.

We hope these 5 tips helped !!!
